House hunting with 1st time buyers can be an exciting if not an interesting experience. Most first timer's are young adults who have not been exposed to large financial undertakings. As a result, most young buyers bring along their parents for support...both emotionally and sometimes even financially. With parents being involved in the real estate transactions, the house search experience can become stressful for the first time buyer if a few guidelines are not set. I explain to my young buyers that their parents are always welcome to tour the houses and offer their suggestions. However, I strongly suggest they narrow their choices down to 2 or 3 houses and then ask for their parent's opinion. By setting the groundwork at the beginning of the house hunt, the young buyer feels he is the adult in the transaction, and the parents are not touring with us each and every outing. It really helps ease the tension in the home buying process.
If your son or daughter is ready for their first home, please contact me. I am available to help them with their first real estate transaction and to answer any parent related questions or concerns...Shawna
